Deepest Sympathy

We regret to inform our members that John died suddenly on Tuesday after a short spell in hospital. Our deepest sympathy goes to Hilary, Adam and Alastair and to his grandchildren at this sad time.

John was the backbone of our club's administration for over four decades and for over thirty years of those years he served as the Honorary Treasurer, a post that required all of his dedication, resilience, diligence and good humour. During that time John used his financial expertise to oversee the transformation of our clubs facilities.

For as long as anyone can remember John has administered our clubs England International match ticket allocation, and all of us who have enjoyed a trip to watch an international match owe our pleasure to John's tireless and diligent work. John also served Cumbria Rugby Union with distinction for many years managing the Cumbria Rugby Union Patrons scheme.

John was superb administrator who never sought the limelight, but worked tirelessly in the background to help our club, County and Sport. His intelligence, politeness and dry wit made any interaction a pleasant experience.

There are few men that are universally liked by all those that meet him, sadly we have just lost one of those men. A true gentleman.

RIP "Boothy".
